Welcome to the World of the Swedish Vallhunds! These dogs are marvelous with adults, children, and other animals. The Swedish Vallhund Club of America is dedicated to the promotion of this wonderful companion and herding dog through education and experience. We welcome your questions and comments. Vallhunds are an ancient breed, said to possibly be the ancestors of the Pembroke Welsh Corgi. They are recognized by Sweden as an original species, going back over 1000 years, to the time of the Vikings, with whom they are said to have traveled. They are Herding Dogs and, when working, herd cattle and sheep. They actively work in Sweden and some other countries and are also used as herders in a few places in the US. We encourage you to view our website and consider joining our Club. Take part in this adventure and journey to promote the prosperity of this ancient breed...new to America.

The Swedish Vallhund Club of America is the Original National Club representing the Swedish Vallhund in the USA. We have an International  Membership.

The Swedish Vallhund Club of America was started for the purpose of ensuring the continuation of this marvelous breed: the preservation and promotion of our wonderful Swedish Vallhund. We want to preserve its conformation,  its marvelous herding instinct and its wonderful temperament which make them our loving companions. Members support the Club to this end. The SVCA seeks full AKC recognition as another means to this end. This goal will be achieved as of June 27, 2007.
